Test Criteria
Allergen-proof bedding can protect house dust mite allergy sufferers from mite allergens and relieve symptoms.
The impermeability of bedding or encasings against mite feces allergens is tested using a specially developed load testing bench. This involves applying a defined quantity of mite feces allergens to the product and simulating load with pressure and friction.
The quantity of mite feces allergens able to permeate the test material is determined using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) technique. The test set-up indicates the impermeability of the test specimen and the suitability of the product for allergy sufferers.
With a defined reduction of the mite feces allergen content through the textile surface, the seam and the zipper, the product can be certified and the final product labeled the quality label " Dust and Dust Mite Barrier ".
